We need to understand the depth of Jesus' suffering to fully understand the depth of His love for us. The greatest suffering Jesus felt was the rejection from His heavenly Father for all the sins of the world.
HAVE YOU DENIED JESUS CHRIST AS THE SON OF GOD?
We cry for Peter, because some-where inside, we have tears for ourselves, because he is our mirror. Later on, Jesus assured Peter of His forgiveness. We don't need to run off in self pity, but run to the cross, where forgiveness is always given.
HOW HAVE YOU BETRAYED JESUS?
HAVE YOU SOLD OUT TO DRUGS, ALCOHOL, SEX, MONEY, POWER, WRONG
RELATIONSHIP?
If you're making excuses for what you indulge in, you haven't seen how your sins betrayed Jesus. If you see your betrayal, but are still in despair, BELIEVE JESUS' LOVE which is bigger than any sin. YOUR SINS CAN'T DEFEAT HIM! His death has defeated your sins.
ARE YOU HONEST ENOUGH TO ADMIT THAT YOU CONDEMNED JESUS TO THE CROSS?
As you reflect on what you saw today, we invite you to consider honestly all that is wrong with you. Then thank God that his Son, Jesus, the perfect person, who didn't deserve to suffer, suffered in your place for all your sins. IT WASN'T THE NAILS WHICH HELD JESUS TO THE CROSS. HIS LOVE FOR YOU KEPT THEM THERE!
